Growing up in the 80s, I was a huge fan of “Miami Vice.” For me, Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas represented the pinnacle of white-suit-wearing awesomeness.
Now, as an independent filmmaker, I wanted to give something back to the show that provided my five-year-old self with so many formative images and hours of entertainment. On a recent trip to Italy, I put my plan into effect: It’s an attempt to create a shot-for-shot remake of the opening credits of “Miami Vice,” set in Venice.
My version is a parody of season two’s opener, and it will be funnier if you watch the original first, or if you’re already a huge “Miami Vice” nerd like me. Now I’m starting to think about what the opening credits of MacGyver would look like in South Korea… MacGangnam-style?
